Taylor's journey to fame began with YouTube. She started with making ASMR videos using her smartphone. PewDiePie included her in an online gaming video just after she had topped 50,000 subscribers about 1 1/2months after uploading the initial video. Taylor quit working for her Youtube channel two months later. There were close to 100,000 subscribers. The main reason was technical problems and that she felt overwhelmed. She began producing videos after a one-month break. This included the extremely popular ASMR Ten Triggers to Help You sleep. (35,000,000 views as of august 2022). ASMR 10 Triggers to Help You Sleep was a different video she released in July 2017that has been watched 38 million times by August 2022. In August 2017, Shane Dawson featured her during an interview. She also reached 1,000,000 subscribers within a few days. Wired UK reported that in February of 2019, she was earning $1000 per day from ads on her YouTube channel.

Helfer was raised in the rural area of Donalda, Alberta, Canada, to Dennis Elaine and Dennis Elaine Helfer. She is born to German as well as English heritage. She studied at the William E. Hay Composite High School in Stettler in Alberta. Her three sisters, Tammy, Tara and Trena resided and worked on their farm owned by her parents. In the age of 17 a modeling scout from an agency discovered Helfer when he was waiting at the front of a line for entry into a movie.
